Opportunity: Accountant/Controller - Queens (Long Island City)
Organization: Nonprofit that provides educational enrichment to middle/high schoolers
Help manage the finances of an educational nonprofit. Serve as the manager/overseer of the accounting and financial operations. Work with the executive director and bookkeeper to maximize the use of Quickbooks to generate reports and create cash flow projections, and budget-to-actual comparisons. Review and update the internal controls manual; make recommendations for improvement to the Executive Director and assist with audit preparation.
Opportunity: Colloquium & Administrative Assistant- Manhattan (Upper West Side)
Organization: Nonprofit that provides services for older people
Assist the Executive Director/CEO with the organization, planning and execution of the organization's Annual Colloquium in June 2011. Assist with event planning and preparation for the Colloquium, including confirming room reservations, researching materials related to the Colloquium theme, and communicating workshop assignments to registrants. Review participant evaluation forms and compile report of results. Prepare guidelines and/or templates for future Colloquiums to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of preparation for and execution of this annual event.
Opportunity: Administrative Assistant - Staten Island
Organization: A Theater
Friend, Romans, countrymen, get me those reports! Serve as an administrative assistant to the executive director of this growing Staten Island theater that produces original and contemporary works and offers arts-in-education programs to NYC schools. Write letters. Update mailing list. Read and summarize various articles and information. Create and send out Constant Contact mailings. Keep reservation lists and oversee volunteers.
Opportunity: Marketing Strategist - Manhattan (Lower East Side)
Organization: Educational Nonprofit that provides services for Lower East Side residents
Plan and execute a marketing campaign to create a strong community presence for a new Center that provides services for older adults. Develop a communication strategy and place pieces about the Center in key publications. Determine audience and market. Coordinate and create an agency marketing plan. Work with the Educational Alliance marketing team. Assist the health care and fitness coordinators with the design/development of associated materials and documents. Establish new relationships with key representatives within business and media outlets while building upon existing relationships.
Opportunity: Saturday & Afterschool Tutors - Brooklyn (Clinton Hill)
Organization: Charter School
Work with lower-performing students on Math, Reading and Regents Test Preparation. Serve as the primary tutor/instructor in math and reading skills. Track student achievement; perform occasional data entry. Promote good study skills and academic success. Supervise students and implement planned activities. Ensure safety of students to and from program, and while the program is in session.
