ReServist Tutoring

ReServe is seeking professionals with a bachelor's degree or currently enrolled college seniors for an opportunity to provide literacy tutoring for middle school youth in high-need public schools in New York City.

For the second year, ReServe is collaborating with the New York City Department of Education, ExpandED Schools (TASC) and HarvardEd Labs to offer paid, part-time positions as reading tutors during the 2015 - 2016 school year as part of the MS ExTRA program. At participating schools, MS ExTRA offers 6th & 7th graders 2.5 more hours of learning time per day and gives students the time and opportunity they need to improve academic and life outcomes, preparing them to be on track to graduate from high school, college and career ready.

Reading tutors will provide daily guided reading instruction to students in a small group setting, to supplement and enhance in-class reading assignments. The program is designed to enhance a student’s comprehension and to foster a love of reading.
